Here are the changes and additions since version 4.20.10 was released:
We have just been informed that DHTML Menu Builder has been awarded 5 out of 5 stars by the editors at freedownload.com!
DHTML download & screenshots Although DHTML Menu Builder does not natively support the creation of multi-column menus, we have created an AddIn that incorporates such ability to the program making it extremely easy to create highly complex menus.
I recently received a request from a user on the public forums requesting to see a multi-column menu that could mimic the menus at MTV.com
BrotherSoft has just awarded DHTML Menu Builder (version 4.20) with their Editor's Pick award!Click here to view DHTML Menu Builder's entry at BrotherSoft's web site.
Here are the changes and additions for this new release:
Over 600 users have decided to register their web on our list of web sites using DHTML Menu Builder! Registering your web site is easy as you just need to fill out a very simple form, which is available here. Having your web site listed with us will give it further exposure as the list can be indexed by search engines. Registered web sites will also be shown (at not particular order) on the front page.
We have just updated the samples section with four new samples:
We hope you enjoy them!
Since Macromedia's web site has just been merged with Adobe's (due to Adobe purchasing Macromedia), the Flash-based menus that were used in Macromedia?s web site are not longer available. I guess this makes for a valid excuse to make the DHTML Menu Builder projects that mimicked these menus freely available to the public.
So, if you have ever wanted to download those samples, please, feel free to do so now:
DHTML Menu Builder 4.20 is, by far, the most stable and feature reach release ever.
So far, there have been 7 updates to this version which have contributed to provide better compatibility with Windows Vista and fixed some minor issues. This new version, 4.20.008, solves some issues, recently reported by some customers, and improves usability by adding some new features. Here's what's new:
I'm very pleased to announce the support to place orders for DHTML Menu Builder through a fourth partner: DigitalCandle.com
DigitalCandle accepts payments using a wide variety of options:
If you have recently tried to install DHTML Menu Builder and you are running an anti-virus program (such as F-secure or Kaspersky) you may have noticed that the installation is interrupted because the anti-virus reports that some of the files included with the DHTML Menu Builder installer are infected with a strain of the Trojan-PSW.Win32.LdPinch virus.
Well, plain and simple that is not true!
This is not the first time this has happened and I can assure you that this is just a false positive caused by a bug in the virus definitions of these programs.
But, perhaps, the most important feature introduced in this release is the support to allow search engines to "see" the links on the menus; we have called this new feature Search Engine Optimizations. When this option is enabled, search engines will be able to detect the links on the menus and follow them and allow your web site to be properly indexed. More and more DHTML Menu Builder customers are taking advantage of the powerful features introduced since the release of version 4.0 We have already created several samples that showcase most of these features but, this time, we wanted to use some of our client's web sites to show off how well the menus integrate into their web sites and how each one of them has decided to take advantage of some of the newest and coolest features introduced into DHTML Menu Builder. Here's a brief list of what's new in this version:
DHTML Menu Builder is NOT infected and does NOT contain any virus, trojan or spyware
Sat, Apr 22, 2006
We have recently received many reports from users saying that their anti-virus program is reporting that DHTML Menu Builder is infected with some sort of malware (virus, trojan, worm, spyware... you name it). Well, that is NOT true. Unfortunately, this is caused by a broken anti-virus program which produces what's known as a false positive, that is, detecting something where there isn't anything. DHTML Menu Builder is not infected and does not contain any type of malware. Other users are also reporting that our server times out when they try to download DHTML Menu Builder; this is actually caused, again, by a broken anti-virus program incorrectly detecting that the dmbsetup.exe file is infected. It's a shame that companies with million dollar budgets are incapable of producing a decent anti-virus program. So, if you are experiencing similar problems, try to update your anti-virus definitions or simply shutdown your anti-virus while you download DHTML Menu Builder. You may refer to the links below which proof that DHTML Menu Builder is a 100% malware-free application:
Among other features, DHTML Menu Builder version 4.9.005 adds support to let you have several toolbars inside different frames and let them all display their menus inside the same main frame. Until now, this was not possible... We have just created a sample demonstrating this powerful feature so you can learn how to implement this types of menus in your own projects. We are extremely pleased to announce that DHTML Menu Builder now offers support to import ROR files. ROR is a rapidly growing XML format for describing your site content in a generic fashion, so any search engine can better find and understand your site information. This version also introduces the ability to let you display multiple toolbars on different frames and let them share the same main frame to display their menus. For the past 18 months we have allowed you to test the power and flexibility of DHTML Menu Builder by providing us with challenges and see if DHTML Menu Builder was really able to create any type of pull-down menu. Well, now its our turn... and now, we're the ones doing the challenge. We have just created another sample that demonstrates the power and versatility of the new Free Flow positioning option. This time you will learn how to create toolbars that resize, automatically based on the browser's size. Among many other enhancements, version 4.10 introduces a new positioning method for your toolbars known as Free Flow. We have just updated two of the most popular AddIns for DHTML Menu Builder hoping to solve some compatibility issues that have appeared since the release of DHTML Menu Builder (Standard Edition) version 4.9.018: pShowMenu: The AddIn has been updated to resolve an issue that, sometimes, caused two menus to remain visible at the same time.CollapsibleMenus: This version will fix an "Object Expected" javascript error that could occur when clicking a top-level menu item.
The menus generated by the upcoming DHTML Menu Builder 4.9.016 will be easier to use allowing your visitors to make mistakes as they move their mouse over the menus. Move your mouse over the "Display DEMO" link below and you will see this feature in action: the menus will preserve their selection until the mouse has rested for a pre-defined period of time over a single menu option allowing the user to pass over different menu items without actually changing the selection Display DEMO video DHTML Menu Builder 4.9.016 will be released soon... keep checking this page for further information. Download2you.com has awarded DHTML Menu Builder 4.9.015 with their highest ranking of 5 stars!
DHTML Menu Builder <developers' edition> 4.9.015 improves the rendering speed by up to a 55%
Fri, Feb 18, 2005
The latest release of DHTML Menu Builder <developers' edition> implements two new technologies that allow the DynAPI to run up to 55% faster: buffering and render on demand. In this new release, menu items added through the dmbAPI_addCommand() function are buffered allowing your code to run faster and then are rendered as the menus are displayed thus improving the speed of all the DynAPI-related code. We're glad to announce that F-Prot, a product from Frisk Software International, has released an update to their excellent tool to resolve a problem with DHTML Menu Builder. Let me explain, as this is worth mentioning: Mr. Gareth Kitchen, a long time user of DHTML Menu Builder recently discovered that when F-Prot's "RealTime Protection" option was enabled DHTML Menu Builder ran extremely slow. We then developed a small benchmarking application that demonstrated the problem. When "RealTime Protection" was turned off, access the affected functions produced no delay but when it was turned on the functions caused a delay of about 400 milliseconds. This may not sound as much but when a program has to access such functions a hundred times in a single operation it begins to become considerable. I suggested Mr. Kitchen to report the problem to Frisk Software International in hopes that their support department could resolve the problem. Honestly, I didn't expect them to even consider looking into it as we have found problems with other anti-virus and security programs and their support departments have never taken us seriously and have even taken the time to reply to our emails. But, to my surprise, today, I received an email from Mr. Kitchen saying that Frisk Software International had downloaded DHTML Menu Builder and used the benchmarking tool I had developed to test and verify the problem and decided that it was worth fixing... so they did! I must admit that I'm truly amazed by their response time, their support and dedication towards their customers and willingness to ensure the satisfaction of whoever uses their products. xFX JumpStart would like to thank Frisk Software International, Mr. Gareth Kitchen and Mr. Valt?r J?nasson. I'm very glad to know that there're large companies that care about their customers and want to ensure their satisfaction. What a great story... Over 500 users have decided to register their web on our list of web sites using DHTML Menu Builder! Registering your web site is easy as you just need to fill out a very simple form, which is available here. Having your web site listed with us will give it further exposure as the list can be indexed by search engines. Registered web sites will also be shown (at not particular order) on the front page.
DHTML Menu Builder 4.9.011 is released and the CollapsibleMenus AddIn is updated to version 1.1

This new release of DHTML Menu Builder provides several bug fixes (specially for projects with frames support) and included an updated version of the CollapsibleMenus AddIn which now features the ability to assign a third style for selected menu items.
More responsive menus resulting in improved performance pages under Internet Explorer
Thu, Oct 28, 2004
The latest release of DHTML Menu Builder generates much simpler code to render the menus without affecting the quality or features provided by earlier versions. This allows the menus to run smoother and a lot faster consuming less memory and CPU resources. We have also redesigned some parts of the menus' code to make commonly used functions run faster without compromising functionality or compatibility. Consequently the menus will allow other components on the HTML pages to run smoother and require less CPU resources. If you are a returning visitor to this web site you may have noticed that everything runs... smoothly... the menus, their effects and the options on the left hand side of the page are now more responsive, quite a lot more responsive. We strongly recommend that you download the latest release of DHTML Menu Builder and that you recompile your menus to take advantage of these latest improvements. We have just released the final version of the CollapsibleMenus AddIn.
Want to spice up your menus? Since the introduction of the Custom Offsets support in DHTML Menu Builder 4.8 many AddIns that were previously required to position the menus in a non-standard manner are no longer required. One of the most popular AddIns was the "LeftAligned Menus for Horizontal Toolbars". DHTML Menu Builder will let you position, align and anchor your menus in any way imaginable; unfortunately, some users tend to find the positioning controls a bit intimidating. If that's the case with you, check the "Understanding the Positioning Controls" sample we have just added to the Tips & Tricks section: As you'll see, the controls a very simple and yet powerful enough to let you place your menus in any way you want. Are you looking for some dazzling effects for your menus? This new release introduces, among other improvements, two new exciting features:
